Aftercare is part of a treatment plan, not an optional extra. Ask for instructions before your final session so you can organise meals, travel and work. Advice should relate to the procedures you actually received and your health. Avoid using a generic recovery timetable as a promise of how you will feel.
1. Understand the first day at home
Clarify food, activity, rest and medicine instructions in plain language. Ask which temporary sensations might be expected and which are concerning. Do not ignore worsening symptoms simply because someone calls them a healing crisis or says discomfort proves the treatment is working.
2. Return to routine gradually as advised
Discuss when you can resume work, exercise and travel. If you have a demanding job, explain that before the procedure so the plan is realistic. Avoid adding new supplements or another intensive treatment during recovery without checking with your clinician.
3. Track a useful outcome
Record the symptom or daily activity that the plan aimed to improve. A simple note about walking comfort, sleep timing or bowel pattern can be more useful than a broad statement that you feel cleansed. Also record side effects and any changes in your regular medicines.
4. Close the loop at follow-up
Bring the record and ask whether the plan should continue, change or stop. Persistent vomiting, severe weakness, fainting or another significant reaction needs prompt assessment. Confirm who is responsible for follow-up if you travelled from another city. The goal is clear ongoing care, not an indefinite package.
Before your appointment
Write down your main concern and when it started.
Keep recent reports and all medicine or supplement names ready.
Ask what the next step is and when the plan will be reviewed.

Your questions, answered
Is feeling unwell proof of detoxification?
No. Worsening symptoms may indicate an adverse effect or another problem and should be assessed.
